Couch to 5k
About
Nantwich Running Club hosts a couple of Couch to 5K programmes during the year. One is held in the evenings in early Spring and the other on Saturday mornings towards the end of the year. Each programme lasts nine weeks.
Meeting Location/Venue
We meet in the car park at Malbank High School just off Water Lode.
Training Plan
Once you’re registered you will have access to our Training Plan. It will give you an idea of how each session progresses over the nine-week period.
It’s our objective to get you running for about 30 mins by week nine. At the end of the programme you can have a go at completing a parkrun (5km).
Sessions
UK Athletics qualified Run Leaders and other experienced members of the club support our weekly group sessions. You’ll be well looked after and supported throughout the programme.
Groups
From past experience we know that some participants will be fitter/ and/or quicker than others. So, we’ll create small sub-groups of around 5-10 people who are closely matched in terms of fitness.
We strongly recommend that you start some brisk walking for 30 mins, three times a week. You’ll find the start of the programme easier to get into if you do.
Clothing
Invest in a well-fitting pair of trainers. They needn’t be expensive, but they must be comfortable. Think about your normal shoe size and go up by about ½ a size. When your feet get hot they expand so, give yourself some room.
We’re starting the programme in January so it might be cold/wet. Wear a few layers of lightweight waterproof clothing which you can remove if you get too hot.
Payment
You will only complete the booking and registration process (and therefore be able to attend the group sessions) once the one-off payment of £10.00 (+ small booking fee) has been made
